REPORT: Warnock May Have Used Campaign Funds for Personal Lawsuit Expenses

Herschel Walker may have finally gotten the break he needed to pick up some ground against Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA).

The lawsuit stems back to 2019 regarding allegations made against Warnock when he was a pastor in 2005.

The initial suit was dismissed, but a new suit was filed in 2021, and Warnock used his campaign attorneys in the case.

That’s a No-No

Warnock’s campaign attorneys are from the Elias Law Group.

These are the same attorneys that represented him in the case filed by Melvin Robertson in round two, when Warnock had already been sworn in as a Senator.

Campaign funds can be used in lawsuits by elected officials, but that is only the case if the suit is related to their position, not something that happened in their personal lives, and surely not something that took place almost two decades before being elected.

Warnock, of course, says he did nothing wrong.

His office stated, “This report intentionally misrepresents reality by relying on Washington Republicans’ attacks instead of the actual facts.

“This was never a personal lawsuit, it was a frivolous lawsuit filed against multiple public figures and handled according to the law.

“Herschel Walker would rather talk about anything other than his pattern of lies, exaggerations, and completely bizarre claims, all of which show he is not ready to represent Georgians in the U.S. Senate.”

Marc Elias, head of the Elias Law Group, contends that since the second suit was filed when he was in office, he can use campaign funds for the suit.

However, even his attorneys had stated that the claims made “relate to actions purportedly taken in 2005 and 2008, when he was not a federal employee” and should be dismissed.

Regardless of how this particular claim pans out for Warnock, he will take a hit.

I am sure his campaign donors are not at all thrilled to learn that more than $60,000 of campaign funds went to Elias since October 2021.
