Mark Meadows was SUPPOSED to be Trump’s chief of staff during the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t around. At least not mentally.

Where was he, you might ask?

Having a nervous breakdown.

The report comes from Trump’s former acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, who ceded that role to the aforementioned Mark Meadows.

Meadows was unable to carry out his duties during the January 6 riots, that much is clear.

The only question is, why?

Was it because he’s incompetent in general? Or was he unable to handle the pressure of this one situation leading to an unfortunately timed nervous breakdown he had little control over?

Mick Mulvaney thinks it was a little bit of both.

Either way, the simple truth is that Meadows didn’t get the job done.

When national security is on the line, the reason why doesn’t really matter.

“I have Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony which was that he was completely disengaged. I was talking with a friend of mine during the testimony last week, and I was texting back and forth. And this person was in the West Wing during the January 6 riots. And I said, ‘You know — if I listen to Cassidy closely, it sounds like Mark was either completely incompetent at the job or was having a nervous breakdown.’ And the person texted back, ‘It was a little bit of both.’ So you get this impression that things had really broken down and that Mark Meadows as the chief of staff, which is a critical position, especially in those critical moments, had checked out entirely,” Mulvaney said. “Was Mark having a nervous breakdown, or was he just incompetent? And the response was it was a little bit of both. That would explain a lot of the breakdown in the West Wing.”
