Court Rules Trump Must Hand Over Tax Returns to Congress

Donald Trump is running out of legal options to keep his tax returns away from Congress.

In yet another legal loss, a federal appeals court has ruled against the former president.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled 3-0 against Trump after a Trump-appointed judge had ruled against him in the initial case.

One More Appeal

The latest ruling will allow the House Ways and Means Committee to get its hands on Trump’s records.

However, the court’s “official” ruling will not be released for seven more days.

This means Trump can still file yet another appeal if he hopes to keep his tax records hidden.

I would imagine that decision will be a no-brainer, especially considering the raid that recently took place at Mar-a-Lago.

Judge David Sentelle wrote, “In this case, the need for the Trump Parties’ information to inform potential legislation overrides the burden to the Executive Branch largely because that burden is so tenuous.”

Sentelle is a Ronald Reagan appointee.

The decision further addressed the concerns of Trump’s legal team regarding the First Amendment and separation of powers.

It stated, “While it is possible that Congress may attempt to threaten the sitting President with an invasive request after leaving office, every President takes office knowing that he will be subject to the same laws as all other citizens upon leaving office.

“This is a feature of our democratic republic, not a bug.”

The Justice Department is now in a full-court press against Trump.

As I stated earlier, they better hope they can find something or all they are doing is assuring Trump a victory in 2024.

This entire investigation could wind up being the death of the Democrat Party as we know it.
