McConnell Finally Addresses FBI Raid on Trump

It took about 24 hours, but Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) finally addressed the FBI raid at the Trump Mar-a-Lago resort.

While almost every other Republican in office commented immediately, McConnell took his time, probably hoping the FBI would announce what it found.

McConnell, in fact, called for immediate transparency, avoiding much of the rhetoric other officials had tossed around.

Calling for Transparency

McConnell avoided the support for Trump many other officials had already expressed.

Instead, he kept it to demanding answers regarding the raid.

The fossilized Republican stated, “The country deserves a thorough and immediate explanation of what led to the events of Monday.

“Attorney General Garland and the Department of Justice should already have provided answers to the American people and must do so immediately.”

McConnell had avoided the subject of the raid on Monday, telling reporters in Kentucky, “I’m here to talk about the flood and recovery from the flood.”

Senator Grassley (R-IA) also commented, stating, “Less than a week ago, I expressed serious concern that what little remains of the FBI’s credibility is on the line following its inconsistent handling of politically sensitive investigations, failure to hold its own employees accountable for misconduct and consistent disregard for congressional oversight.

“Last night’s raid on the home of a former U.S. president without explanation will only further erode confidence in the FBI and the Justice Department.”

Democrats, many of whom obliterated the FBI when it dared to investigate Hillary’s emails, have been relatively silent on the raid at Trump’s home.
