McConnell Comes to Help Trump-backed Vance Stay in the Race

The good news is that Ohio Republican Senate candidate JD Vance has finally wrestled away a small lead in his race against Democrat Rep. Tim Ryan.

The bad news is that his campaign is on life support, running low on funds, and being significantly outraised by Ryan.

In steps Cocaine Mitch with a bag of cash to bail him out.

Need the Win

Trump’s PAC has stacks of cash on hand, but Trump does not seem willing to part with the money.

Trump needs to start writing some big checks, however, because he has five candidates in key races that are either losing or in a close fight.

The one on the winning side of the polling right now is JD Vance, so a McConnell group just wrote checks for about $28 million to buy up ad space for Vance.

As for the rest, I would not expect much help from McConnell or his allies.

As much as Mitch wants to be the Senate Majority Leader again, he also wants to prove his point that picking candidates simply because they believe the 2020 election was rigged is not good for business.

McConnell has even warned recently that the Senate is now unlikely to be turned, far more likely that Democrats take outright control.

At the last report, Vance had only $629,000 cash on hand after an ugly and packed primary race.

Ryan, on the other hand, has $3.6 million on hand.

Vance will need help, a lot of it, to get through the next three months holding that lead.
