Russia has made a shocking military announcement, and the world is waiting to see how they will proceed.
Russia’s naval headquarters for its Black Sea fleet in Ukraine has been hit.
The Moscow-installed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, made the announcement on Telegram.
There were no reported casualties.
Apparently, the base was hit by a drone that flew into the roof of the building.
Razvozhayev initially noted that the drone was unable to be shot down before exploding into flames on the top of the roof, but changed his mind about 30 minutes later. At that point, he made another announcement about the drone, saying that it was shot down “right above the fleet headquarters. It fell on the roof and caught fire.”
It remains unclear as to whether the drone was actually shot down or not.
Regardless, one Russian official stated that the attack was supposed to do more damage psychologically than militarily.
Oleg Kryuchkov urged civilians in Crimea to remain calm as “attacks by small drones continue. The goal is not military but psychological. The explosives are minimal and not capable of inflicting significant harm.”
