You can tell the Democrats that do not live in the Kool-Aid world.
Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) is in a nasty fight in a Senate race against Trump-backed JD Vance.
This is a battleground state race that only has a couple of points between the two of them and could go either way.
To that point, Ryan is taking the road less traveled by most Dems and calling out Biden over the student loan debt shift he announced this week.
Not for Me
You know you are on the right side of the argument when battleground politicians come to your side.
If Democrats truly believed their actions were right, they would not be bending on these critical issues.
The fact that Ryan is breaking on student loans from Joe Biden, well, that lets you know we are on the right side of this fight.
Ryan stated, “As someone who’s paying off my own family’s student loans, I know the costs of higher education are too high.
“And while there’s no doubt that a college education should be about opening opportunities, waiving debt for those already on a trajectory to financial security sends the wrong message to the millions of Ohioans without a degree working just as hard to make ends meet.”
He continued, “Instead of forgiving student loans for six-figure earners, we should be working to level the playing field for all Americans – including an across-the-board tax cut for working and middle-class families, medical debt cancellation, targeted forgiveness for essential workers and more opportunities for student borrowers to refinance their loans, and investing in apprenticeships, universal community college, and workforce development and training programs so all Americans – not just college grads – have a shot at success.”
This is his ploy to lure in some conservative voters so he can take a key seat, but I am not sure it will work.
The numbers are coming and voters are getting sick and tired of politicians promising one thing on the trail and doing something else when they get into office.
Ryan may be pretending to be more moderate, but we have a House voting record showing he is far from moderate when it comes time to cast that vote.
Don’t fall for the trap, Ohioans.
