Well, that did not take long.
Newly-elected New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been in office less than two weeks and he has already caved to the far left.
In a complete reversal of his stance before taking office, Adams now supports legislation to allow non-citizens to vote.
Is He Serious?
Ironically enough, I just did a piece yesterday discussing how all we can take politicians at is their word.
That piece was discussing Republican Senator Johnson of Wisconsin running for a third term after self-imposing a two-term limit.
The pivot being made by Adams, however, is far worse.
Before taking office, Adams had expressed serious reservations about the legislation in New York City that would allow 800,000 non-citizens voting rights in local elections.
This weekend, however, Adams pivoted.
He stated, “I believe that New Yorkers should have a say in their government, which is why I have and will continue to support this important legislation.
“While I initially had some concerns about one aspect of the bill, I had a productive dialogue with my colleagues in government that put those concerns at ease.
“I believe allowing the legislation to be enacted is by far the best choice, and look forward to bringing millions more into the democratic process.”
Well, no, Mr. Adams, they do not.
Work visa or not, these people are not legal citizens of the country; therefore, they do not get the right guaranteed to us by our Constitution.
We were hoping that Adams would bring back some common sense to the office in New York City, but he just proved his word is worthless.
Oddly enough, warnings have been issued over the last few days that Adams is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Up until this point, he had conservatives rooting for him that he could turn that city around, but that will now end rather quickly.
Now he is just another talking head that says whatever it takes to get elected, then goes back on his word the moment a little pressure is applied to him.
