Democrats better look out because there is a new kid on the block, and he is going to be a problem.
Ian Smith has just announced that he is going to run for NJ CD-3.
If he gets out of the primary, he will be facing off against Rep. Andy Kim (D-N.J.).
Get Ready for a Battle
If the name rings a bell but you cannot quite place it, just think back to the original lockdowns during the pandemic.
Smith is the owner of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr.
He was among those that refused to give in to the lockdown and kept his business open.
He made national headlines when the police showed up at the front doors to shut him down.
Now he is taking a page from our Founding Fathers’ playbook and running for office to try to fix this broken government from within.
Smith announced his candidacy on Twitter…
This Thursday 2/3 I’ll be formally announcing my campaign for Congress in NJ CD-3 against @AndyKimNJ. I am truly excited to have the possibility to serve the people of NJ with a platform focused on liberty, small government, and America First policies. https://t.co/B4SoD9fDDH

Back in July, Smith was arrested with co-owner Frank Trumbetti.
They were held in contempt of court for refusing to close the gym.
Once released, they kicked down barriers outside the gym and reopened it.
In August, the city council, all Democrats, revoked his business license.
If Smith wins, he will add some character to the House.
Here is a quick look at Smith after losing his contempt of court case…
Smith and his partner racked up more than $1 million in fines for staying open during the course of 2020, but he remained defiant.
Amid the court battle, he stated, “I am a free man. I do not ask for permission.
“I do not ask for forgiveness. You work for us. The only way you’ll ever close these doors is when you close my casket.”
Smith eventually got one-year probation for violating pandemic rules…
He is the second GOP candidate in the race, but it is all but certain that he will be the favorite among conservatives.
