GOP-controlled Arizona Senate Passes 15-week Abortion Ban

Red states are getting very aggressive in passing more restrictive abortion laws.

The Supreme Court already has one precedent in place, with the much more restrictive Texas legislation on deck.

With one win in hand, conservative states are lowering abortion limits, with Arizona being the latest.

Lock It Down

I think most of us would agree that abortion will never be outright banned.

I don’t think the court would ever go so far as to overturn Roe v. Wade outright.

Having said that, I think the conservative justices on the court realize there is a middle ground that can be had between allowing some abortions to take place for very specific reasons and cutting down the window to protect the fetus in the later stages of pregnancy.

In cases such as rape and incest, I don’t think the court will ever completely ban abortions.

The real question here is when does life start.

Some will say at the moment of conception, while others will say not until a heartbeat is detected, and others yet will say not until the actual birth occurs, which is where that middle ground comes in.

Arizona is trying to shorten the window for abortions down to 15 weeks.

Republican Sen. Nancy Barto stated, “The state has an obligation to protect life, and that is what this bill is about.

“A 15-week-old baby in the womb has a fully formed nose, lips, eyelids, they suck their thumbs. They feel pain. That’s what this bill is about.”

This law very closely mirrors the Mississippi law that had been upheld by the court already, so it should withstand scrutiny.

Democratic Sen. Martin Quezada challenged Barto, stating, “I understand the hopes of what the Supreme Court will do from your side of the aisle.

“But as it stands today, right now, is this law constitutional or not?”

Barton replied, “I believe it is. I believe it is.

“I believe our constitution stands clearly for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and the first part of that is life.”

My stance has always been that abortion cannot be considered a form of health care except for very extreme cases, such as when the mother’s life is at risk with the pregnancy.

It is a horrific position to be put in… my life of the life of an unborn child.

Democrats, however, try to sell abortion as reproductive health care, which it simply is not.

Abortion, save the exceptions I have mentioned in this article, is, well, abortion, the taking of a life for no other reason than convenience.

So, rather than use birth control, they kill a child… it really is as simple as that.

We have enough birth control measures available today that if you do not want to get pregnant, you won’t 99 percent of the time.

It just baffles my mind that Democrats are proud of and seek to kill unborn children in mass quantities in the name of “reproductive health care.”

I know this is a hot topic, but let’s hear from you guys on this one.

Is there a middle ground to be found, or would you prefer that Roe v. Wade be outright banned and all abortions, regardless of circumstance, be outlawed?
