House Speaker Pelosi’s January 6 Select Committee has released its first bombshell of the investigation.
Much as we all expected, the committee has concluded that former President Donald Trump and his associates engaged in criminal behavior related to the riot on January 6 at the Capitol.
The findings were revealed on Wednesday.

I have stated all along that regardless of how everyone feels about Donald Trump, we knew what the outcome of this committee would be as soon as it was formed.
This committee was put in place to block Donald Trump from running for office, so this conclusion is not actually a big surprise.
The test now will be to see if the evidence presented is strong enough for the DOJ to recommend an indictment against Trump.
The committee filing stated, “The Select Committee also has a good-faith basis for concluding that the President and members of his Campaign engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States.”
The committee itself is powerless to file charges against Trump.
This filing comes after Trump adviser John Eastman refused to turn over documentation to the committee.
Charles Burnham, Eastman’s attorney, stated that his client has a responsibility “to protect client confidences, even at great personal risk and expense.”
That would be a reference to client-attorney privilege, as Eastman is also an attorney.
Burnham further stated, “The Select Committee has responded to Dr. Eastman’s efforts to discharge this responsibility by accusing him of criminal activity.”
The committee also claims that Trump tried to strong-arm Pence to delay proceedings and “manipulate” the results.
On this, the filing reads, “The evidence supports an inference that President Trump and members of his campaign knew he had not won enough legitimate state electoral votes to be declared the winner of the 2020 Presidential election during the January 6 Joint Session of Congress, but the President nevertheless sought to use the Vice President to manipulate the results in his favor.”
The DOJ will likely review the findings and determine if actual charges should be filed against the former president.
To this point, the DOJ has not hinted it will pursue charges against Trump, but that could change rather quickly.
This could be something the DOJ holds on to for a bit and delays any move until we get closer to the election.
Remember, the ultimate game plan by Democrats here is to block Trump from running.
If the DOJ were to file now and lose, it would only boost Trump.
If any charges are delayed until after the 2022 election happens, it would all but ensure Trump of not being able to announce until after the case had been settled or risk running and being convicted very close to the election, wrecking the GOP’s chances of taking back the White House.
