For months, troops have been trying to get religious exemptions for the vaccine.
Up until recently, not a single waiver had been granted for any branch of the military.
That finally changed this week when the Army granted its first religious waver.
Just One…
There are a variety of reasons that people are trying to get a religious waiver.
This goes from strictly faith-based to the type of research that developed the vaccine.
Regardless, if they honestly have this faith-based objection, our Constitution grants them that right.
Yet, the Pentagon has denied every application to this point.
With a 96 percent vaccination rate, discharging or removing these troops from the service simply makes no sense.
This is especially true when you consider many of these waivers are being submitted by some of our most elite troops and officers, those that this country has the most invested in and relies upon for the successful defense of this country.
As of March 3, the Army was the only branch that had not yet separated troops for refusing the vaccine, but they have been disciplined and some officers have been relieved of duty.
All of them have been put on notice that they could be separated from the service for continuing to refuse the vaccine.
Army Secretary Christine Wormuth stated, “Army readiness depends on Soldiers who are prepared to train, deploy, fight and win our nation’s wars.
“Unvaccinated Soldiers present risk to the force and jeopardize readiness.
“We will begin involuntary separation proceedings for Soldiers who refuse the vaccine order and are not pending a final decision on an exemption.”
The soldier that received the religious exemption if the first to have done so, but the circumstances behind the exemption have not yet been revealed.
