That gasp you heard was the Biden administration.
It now appears that the entire Republican Party will be opposing Judge Jackson during her confirmation in the Senate.
With Senator McConnell (R-KY) now openly opposing her, it is all but certain the entire GOP will vote “no” on her confirmation.
This means Democrats cannot afford a single defector if they want to get her approved.
Other Options
I keep going back to Childs and why she was not nominated.
Childs was far from perfect, but she did not come with nearly the controversy of Ketanji Brown Jackson.
There were things we would have complained about as conservatives, but most people would ultimately accept her as a Justice on the Supreme Court.
Jackson is an activist with an agenda, and Joe Biden knew this when he nominated her.
I firmly believe the purpose behind this nomination was to paint Republicans as racist because his camp knew they would have a problem with numerous aspects of her record, specifically the number of decisions that have been overturned and her sentencing record on child porn offenses.
So, instead of a truly bipartisan justice, the first black woman justice will be passed, likely, with a 51-50 vote.
McConnell, on opposing Jackson, stated, “After studying the nominee’s record and watching her performance this week, I cannot and will not support Judge Jackson for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.”

From the reports I have seen, there is one, maybe two Republicans considering backing Jackson in this vote.
With McConnell now opposing her, it would be a surprise if they decided to vote “yea” on her confirmation.
Schumer better have his ducks lined up on this one.
I suspect he will, and I also expect a fiery speech from both Biden and Schumer after the vote painting every conservative in this country as racist.
