In part because Herschel Walker skipped the first debate ahead of voting day for his U.S. Senate candidacy in Georgia, The Nation’s justice correspondent Elie Mystal had some strong words for the former football star.
“Herschel Walker is a ‘clown’ candidate.”
Mystal went so far as to say that “voters should punish Republicans for putting forward.”
Walker responded to Mystal, saying that liberals all seem interested in dividing Americans by color, but Herschel Walker will not.
“I’m about bringing people together, not separating people. What it seems like you are is to separate people because of color. That’s not Herschel Walker.”
Walker was responding to Mystal’s article that said the GOP should be embarrassed for putting him forward.
Herschel’s main point in his response was to get together with Mystal to “break bread.”
Mystal refused at this point in time. Apparently there are some prerequisites before maybe the greatest NCAA football player ever is worthy of Mystal’s time:
“I will not waste the time of Georgia voters, helping Herschel Walker distract himself from their issues. I will debate or have lunch with or break bread with Herschel Walker the moment after he talks to the Senator from Georgia, Raphael Warnock, about actual issues affecting Georgia voters. All Walker is trying to do is distract people from the fact that he does not have a policy plan and literally cannot articulate an energy policy or a COVID policy or any policy that matters to Georgia voters.”
