Joe Biden’s Past Comes Back To Haunt Him

President Joe Biden is in some really hot water.

Surprisingly, it doesn’t have to do with his deadbeat son. Or the invasion in Ukraine. Or Biden’s soaring gas prices. Or Biden’s failing economy. Or Biden’s premature evacuation in Afghanistan. Or Biden’s failures at the southern border. Or Biden’s inability to control COVID.

No, this time it’s something different.

It’s the way he reminisced about sitting down for meals with “real segregationists.”

The President apparently hoped that this would illustrate the need for civility, even amongst people with whom you do not always agree.

“You know, things have kind of changed since I first got to Washington,” Biden began.

“I got elected there when I was 29 years old to the United States Senate from a very modest background. And I was there for 36 years before becoming vice president.”

Next is when he really upset some people:

“We always used to fight like hell even back in the old days when we had real segregationists like Eastland and Thurmond, all those guys. But we ended up eating lunch together. Things have changed. We got to bring it back.”

“Segregationists were famously chill about who got to eat lunch together,” National Review senior writer Dan McLaughlin said in response.
