I have never had a problem with any member of Congress, Democrat or Republican, as long as they represent the will of their constituents.
Sadly, far too many of them are more worried about grabbing headlines than doing their jobs, and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is at the top of that list.
Rep. Cuellar (D-TX) lives at the border, and for his constituents, illegal immigration is a major concern, so it is his concern.
After House leadership on the left side of the aisle supported him in his primary against a progressive, AOC just about lost her mind.
Utter Failure
Progressives dumped a ton of money into the campaign of Jessica Cisneros and it was a battle right down to the wire.
With 99 percent of the vote counted, Cuellar held a 177-vote lead, already having declared victory.
Cisneros has not yet conceded, and this may come down to a recount, but Cuellar appears to have taken the election for now.
Were it not for people from out-of-state dumping money into her campaign, I have little doubt Cuellar would have easily won this primary.
While I would love to see outside money blocked in state elections, that is not the way it works now, so people outside the state often have far more say than people in the state.
To that point, AOC is having a fit that Cuellar got the support he did from leadership…
Congress should not be an incumbent protection racket and sadly it is treated as such by far too many.
The fact is those who fail their communities deserve to lose. They don’t need rescuing from powerful leaders who state they fight for gun safety, the right to choose, and more.

If the results hold and Cuellar does win the primary, it is a virtual no-brainer that he will win the general election.
All Republican voters combined were less than either Cuellar or Cisneros had, so this seat is likely to remain blue.
We can only be thankful that the person holding it is likely to be a legal immigration advocate and not support Joe Biden’s radical plan to allow everyone over the border that wants to come with no limits.
