Cue the outrage…

Early Friday morning, a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed by San Antonio Police.

The boy was driving a car at 1:30 a.m. when the shooting took place.

While we know there will surely be outrage over a 13-year-old boy being shot and killed by police, let’s look at the actual situation first.

First, what is a 13-year-old doing out at 1:30 in the morning?

Secondly, why was he behind the wheel of a stolen car?

Third, he had just T-boned a patrol car when officers opened fire on the vehicle.

Local police stated that once the boy saw the police, he backed the car up and T-boned a marked police cruiser.

An officer opened fire, taking one shot, which hit the boy in the abdomen.

He was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

There were two additional passengers in the stolen vehicle, both of whom were unharmed.

The identity of the officer who fired the kill shot has not been revealed, but he has been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.

It will be very interesting to see how this case pans out during the course of this investigation as well as if charges are filed against the officer.

My guess is that nobody will be putting the parents of this little hoodlum under as much scrutiny as the officer that was forced to take a shot to protect his fellow officers from being run down by this child.
