Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is in the fight of a lifetime to hold her congressional seat in the 2022 election cycle.
She is already trailing Trump-backed Harriet Hageman in polling, having only announced her re-election bid last week.
Yet, instead of trying to make peace with voters that could flip the script, she continues to trash Trump supporters, now calling them a cult.
Wrong-Way
Cheney’s family has been in politics forever.
Quite honestly, it is surprising that Liz has been so successful considering her father’s exploits.
The fact that both her father and Liz continue to act high and mighty now, knowing that Dick Cheney created a war to save Bush’s presidency, is even more infuriating.
Like Bush, Cheney walks more left of center than right these days, and voters have started to notice.
The fact she took her January 6 committee assignment from Pelosi rather than House Minority Leader McCarthy (R-CA) seems to have been the last straw.
If that wasn’t, her most recent comments probably will be.
Cheney has accused many GOP members of cult-like behavior.
She stated, “We have too many people now in the Republican Party who are not taking their responsibilities seriously, and who have pledged their allegiance and loyalty to Donald Trump.
“I mean, it is fundamentally antithetical, it is contrary to everything conservatives believe, to embrace a personality cult.
“And yet, that is what so many in my party are doing today.”
Plenty of conservatives did not necessarily like Trump, but they know he had winning policies when he was in office.
Many of those people did not vote for Trump in 2020 because they went personality over policy, a mistake they have vowed not to make again.
A few nasty tweets are a small price to pay for a thriving country, which is clearly not happening right now.
Cheney is establishment… always has been and always will be.
The time has come for her to go… and it looks like that day will be coming in January 2023.
