NATO Chief Accuses Russia of Using Illegal Bombs

The situation between Russia and NATO just got ticked up a few notches.

Ukraine had already made allegations that Russia was using illegal weapons.

That allegation became more of a reality on Friday.

War Crimes

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has formally accused Russia of using cluster bombs in its attacks against Ukraine.

This weapon and the possible use of other illegal weapons being investigated would be a violation of international law.

Of particular note is the spotting of Russian thermobaric “vacuum bombs” launchers in Ukraine.

These bombs suck the oxygen out of the air and are meant to incinerate people in enclosed areas.

Stoltenberg stated that NATO is “collecting information and monitoring very closely what is going on in Ukraine.

“I also welcome the decision by the International Criminal Court to open the investigation to this because we have to make sure that President Putin, the president of Belarus are held accountable for what they do.”

The problem with cluster bombs is that they are likely to inflict civilian casualties, something Russia does not even seem to be concerned about right now.

We have seen reports already counting civilian casualties in the thousands.

We have also seen reports that Russia is bombing civilian targets purposely.

Putin could very easily find himself and his top generals all facing war crime charges very soon.

Do you think Putin is guilty of war crimes?
