Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has been pretty quiet lately, but he just made a bit of a splash.
A recent report surfaced regarding the Trump-era DOJ issuing a subpoena to Apple for data of House Intelligence Democrats.
After The New York Times issued the report, Schiff called for an “internal investigation” into the DOJ.
The Report
It is important to put the Times piece into perspective.
At the time the request was made, classified information was being leaked to the media.
This was not a one-off instance, either, as it was happening time and again.
The speculation at the time was that the leak was coming from either Schiff or Rep. Swalwell (D-CA).
That, of course, is not how the media is spinning this and it surely is not how Democrats are spinning it.
Clean House
Schiff has latched on to this report to demand that the Trump-era DOJ be investigated.
Of course, he wants an internal investigation run by Merrick Garland because he knows if a legitimate investigation was done, it just might expose that Schiff and/or other Democrats broke the law.
On the proposed investigation, Schiff stated, “I think there needs to be an internal investigation within the Department of Justice.
“Not just involving, you know, this abuse of power with respect to our committee, but also what they were doing to reporters and press organizations, the attorney general’s intervention in certain cases like Roger Stone and Mike Flynn and others.”
He continued, “In the case of Mike Flynn, this person twice pled guilty. Bill Barr went to the extraordinary step of seeking to have that case dismissed.
“The judge, in that case, appointed someone to advocate someone against the Justice Department. That just doesn’t happen very often, if ever.
“So, I think the department needs to really clean house and look at all of these ways in which the department was abused and take corrective steps and implement new policies and to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
It’s not the DOJ that needs cleaning up, however, it’s Congress.
Over the last four years, the measures taken by Congress and the blatant disregard by Democrats for national security have been appalling.
At the top of that list are Schiff and Swalwell, the two members of Congress that are now complaining the most about this subpoena.
