Joe Biden is doing his best to both take credit for anything that can be deemed a positive and deflect blame for all the negatives elsewhere.
While some media outlets are buying this, American citizens and leaders of other nations are not.
The fact that Joe Biden armed the Taliban then left both allies and citizens behind is being noticed.
Broken Promises
By now, everyone in the nation and the world has seen the clip of Joe Biden promising to keep forces on the ground until everyone was out of Afghanistan.
When he said it, however, we all know it was not true.
He had to be coached into the answer by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and Biden’s words fell empty on the nation.
When the last plane left Afghanistan with American citizens and interpreters and their families still behind, the world took notice.
Biden has since tanked in the polls, but he has also damaged the reputation of this nation.
Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy Michael C. Ryan stated, “The presence of U.S. and NATO forces in the heart of Eurasia was a clear signal to the region of the capability and will of America and her allies to pursue our vital interests together. Both our capability and will are suspect now.
“The unilateral and hasty manner in which this decision was taken will likely reinforce the now entrenched belief in many parts of Europe that America is an unreliable partner and will undermine President Biden’s ability to pursue his stated preference for working closely with our allies and partners.”
Many former Obama officials, including David Axelrod and Ryan Crocker, have come out to blast the withdrawal as a “disaster,” a “failure,” and stating that Joe Biden has “created a global crisis.”
Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for East Asia Heino Klinck added, “I do believe that the current situation is an absolute debacle to have broader international implications.
“The current chaos is being viewed and portrayed as a tragic mix of American incompetence, negligence and weakness and that certainly furthers Beijing’s narrative of U.S. decline.”
Klinck added, “And we see in the propaganda coming out of Beijing and coming out of Moscow, that our adversaries are gloating and conveying that America cannot be trusted. So, this has to worry our friends and partners, particularly in Taiwan as well as in the Ukraine.”
What a complete and utter disaster for this Republic.
