Do not believe what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Francis (Beto) O’Rourke are trying to tell you.
They are lying.
Texas is NOT turning blue.
At least not without a massive reversal in the poll numbers it’s not.
Despite AOC promising Texas would turn blue, and O’Rourke’s claim that he was going to be the next Governor of Texas, it doesn’t look like either of these things are going to happen.
Current governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, holds a seven-point lead in the race for reelection over Beto.
The only reason Beto was even that close is because a lot of the respondents claimed that they were “undecided” about who should be the next governor of Texas.
When that group was pressed for an answer, it was revealed they were overwhelmingly leaning toward Abbott.
In terms of potential primary opponents for Abbott, the only two real possibilities are Allen B. West and Donald Huffines.
Keep in mind that they are POSSIBILITIES to challenge Abbott, not likelihoods.
Neither are polling close to Abbott right now.
Numbers show a primary race between Abbott and either opponent would be even more of a landslide than Abbott versus O’Rourke.
Abbott holds a 49-point lead on West and a 51-point lead on Huffines.
Either one of them recovering from that type of deficit would be nothing short of a miracle.
Beto O’Rourke fairing any differently seems even less likely.
