What is going on with our troops?
Over the last two years or so, Fort Hood had seen a significant rise in suicides as well as numerous alleged murders and assaults.
Honestly, most of them probably went unreported, but I know from my sources leadership was worried and even forced to shut down some units, making them undeployable due to the rise in suicides.
Now, reports are coming out of Fort Drum (New York) that three troops have apparently committed suicide within days of each other.
Rampant Suicides
Reports started to surface over the weekend and on Monday regarding the suicides.
Then, on Monday, command teams reportedly gathered the troops to discuss suicide prevention.
The reason… in the space of three days last week, three unidentified soldiers allegedly committed suicide.
Maj. Gen, Milford H. Beagle, Jr., commander of the 10th Mountain Division, stated, “In trying times like these, it is incumbent upon us all to reach out to your battle buddy.
“Make sure they are O.K.”
“To the Soldiers of Fort Drum, the 10th Mountain Division and our entire Army I want you to know every life is worth living!”
This needs to get fixed, and it needs to get fixed fast.
We already have this problem among our veterans, and now active troops are killing themselves at alarming rates.
We have to be better for our men and women who have worn the colors of this nation on their sleeve… it’s that simple.
