We have all been demanding action for the debacle that has unfolded in Afghanistan.
Personally, I believe every shot-calling General, Biden, Harris, and top administration officials should all be turning in their resignations right now.
While that is unlikely to happen, House Republicans have struck the first blow, moving forward with articles of impeachment against Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
Accountability
Blinken is but one individual responsible for this mess.
Reps. Andy Harris (R-MD) and Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) have singled him out, however.
Harris and Norman have introduced articles of impeachment against Blinken, citing him for the “loss of American lives” as well as the endangerment of “countless other American and allied lives.”
The articles, in part, read, “Secretary Blinken has failed to faithfully uphold his oath and has instead presided over a reckless abandonment of our nation’s interests, security, and values in his role in the withdrawal of American forces and diplomatic assets from Afghanistan.”
Harris stated, “Secretary Blinken’s complete and utter failure of managing this avoidable catastrophe makes him unfit for leadership, and I hope my colleagues will join me in pushing for his removal.”
At the heart of all this is why so much intelligence regarding Afghanistan had been ignored for months.
This falls on Democrat congressional chairs, Biden, our top generals, and Blinken.
At some point, military leaders are going to start to protect their own careers, unless people like Milley and McKenzie are willing to fall on a sword for Biden.
Either way, this is just the beginning.
And while this effort may fall flat with Rep. Pelosi (D-CA) holding the gavel, if Republicans take back the House, Biden’s administration will be overwhelmed with impeachment efforts.
