Sustaining life around a star, as we do around our sun, is incredibly difficult because of the limited scope of temperatures that most discovered living organisms can survive in.
Even on our own planet, the differences are extreme.
Get just a little too far away from the sun and you’ve got entire continents turned into frozen blocks of ice.
Too close? Enjoy burning to death as the skin melts off your face. Even if you’re not human, you probably need water. Temps that get too high mean a planet can’t retain water on its surface.
No water?
No life.
It’s a delicate balance, one that only one planet in the observed history of the universe has been able to obtain: ours.
Now, researches have discovered what may possibly be another planet in the “habitable” zone around a star in outer space, which would act as that planet’s sun.
One of the researchers that made the discovery, Jay Farihi released a statement:
“The possibility of a major planet in the habitable zone is exciting and also unexpected; we were not looking for this, it is important to keep in mind that more evidence is necessary to confirm the presence of a planet.”
