The great mystery of what happened to Brian Laundrie after Gabby Petito’s murder has finally been solved.
Authorities recently found remains they believe to be Brian Laundrie’s.
The body was found with personal items that have been confirmed to have been Laundrie’s.
Shock Discovery
Authorities have been searching for weeks for Laundrie’s body, who was not a person of interest in the death of Gabby Petito.
Last week, the coroner finally confirmed that she was murdered by strangulation…
Laundrie disappeared several weeks ago, but now it appears he, too, is dead.
The remains were found outside the Carlton Reserve and appear to have been underwater for some time.
Steve Bertolino, the attorney representing the Laundrie family, stated, “Chris and Roberta Laundrie were at the reserve earlier today when human remains and some of Brian’s possessions were located in an area where they had initially advised law enforcement that Brian may be.
“Chris and Roberta will wait for the forensic identification of the human remains before making any additional comments.”
With Laundrie’s apparent death, it is unlikely the case of Petito’s murder will be solved.
There is speculation, of course, but the actual circumstances that led to her murder more than likely disappeared with Laundrie’s death.
Chris Burbank, Vice President of the Center for Policing Equity and former Salt Lake City Police Chief, stated, “That is going to be very difficult, without a suspect, to then make or identify the path that led to Gabby’s death.
“If there was probable cause– so, enough evidence to demonstrate he was responsible for Gabby’s death– then absolutely they probably would have charged him and held him.
“And because there wasn’t, there are some missing pieces to this investigation.”
Sadly, Gabby’s family is never likely to get full closure on this, forever wondering why someone would kill their daughter so violently.
