Actor Alec Baldwin gave his first public interview since the tragic shooting on the set “Rust” that claimed the life of a cinematographer.
If you thought Baldwin was going to come forward to take blame, think again.
This was one of the most disgusting, self-serving interviews I have ever seen.
The Gun Did It
Baldwin decided to take the approach that the gun committed the murder, not him.
Even though he was holding the gun and allegedly fired the weapon, Baldwin says he takes no responsibility, nor does he have any guilt over the killing.
Not only that, but Baldwin, in a roundabout way, actually blamed the cinematographer for the fact that he allegedly shot her.
Baldwin maintains that he was given a cold gun, yet nobody on the set seemed to actually clear the gun, including Baldwin.
In describing the incident, Baldwin stated, “This was a marking rehearsal.
“And [Hutchins] says to me, ‘Hold the gun lower. Go to your right. OK, right there. All right, do that. Now show it a little bit lower.’
“And she’s getting me to position the gun.”
“She’s guiding me through how she wants me to hold the gun for this angle.
“I’m holding the gun where she told me to hold it, which ended up being aimed right below her armpit.”
He continued, “The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger.”
He added, “I cock the gun. I go, ‘Can you see that? Can you see that? Can you see that?’
“And then I let go of the hammer of the gun, and the gun goes off. I let go of the hammer of the gun, the gun goes off.”
Steve Wolf, a movie armorer with more than 30 years of experience, is raising serious doubt.
He stated, “On a scale of one to 10? Zero,” on the believability of Baldwin’s version of what happened.
He continued, “You know, guns don’t go up by themselves, right?
“It’s an inanimate object. It has no batteries. It has no timer. It has no web connection.
“It’s not a smart piece of equipment.
“It’s a very reliable device that shoots when you press the trigger, and it doesn’t shoot when you don’t press the trigger.”
