These days, we all know that legal matters are now decided upon by political ideology rather than the law.
So, when the Biden mandate regarding dormitories went before Judge Roseann Ketchmark, a Barack Obama appointee, most conservatives shuddered.
They were right to do, as Judge Ketchmark ruled in favor of the Biden administration in a case that will now have conservative parents of female college students reeling in horror.
Major Blow to Catholic University
The College of Ozarks is a private, Catholic university.
The school thought that being private, it could set its own rules, but that is not the case according to this ruling.
Joe Biden’s big push for transgenders included forcing all schools, private or not, to open all facilities to all students, including opening female dorms, including bedrooms and showers, to members of the opposite sex.
The Executive Order, “Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation,” was challenged by the school to no avail.
Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Julie Marie Blake, who is representing the school in the case, stated, “The government cannot and should not force schools to open girls’ dorms to males based on its politically motivated and inappropriate redefinition of ‘sex.'”
She added, “Women shouldn’t be forced to share private spaces — including showers and dorm rooms — with males, and religious schools shouldn’t be punished simply because of their beliefs about marriage and biological sex.
“Government overreach by the Biden administration continues to victimize women, girls, and people of faith by gutting their legal protections, and it must be stopped.”
College of the Ozarks President Jerry Davis added, “For more than 100 years, College of the Ozarks has provided a distinctly Christian education to students with financial need. We will not abandon our mission. The fight to protect our religious freedom has just begun.”
It is a safe bet that this case will end up before the Supreme Court, especially with religion being tied to the case.
This may be a win for the Biden administration and liberals for the time being, but that may not be the case if and when this finds its way to the Supreme Court.
