Just when you thought the situation at the border could not get worse.
Early Thursday, reports broke that the Biden administration is implementing a new rule for illegal immigrants seeking asylum.
The decision-making is being removed from the courtroom and will now be put into the hands of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officials.
Are You Kidding?
This is one of those reports where you hoped the reporting was wrong, but that is not the case.
Secretary Mayorkas announced the new rule, stating that USCIS officials would help offset the backlog by taking the asylum decision out of the hands of judges and into the hands of Biden’s activists in the agency.
Mayorkas stated, “The current system for handling asylum claims at our borders has long needed repair.
“Through this rule, we are building a more functional and sensible asylum system to ensure that individuals who are eligible will receive protection more swiftly, while those who are not eligible will be rapidly removed.
“We will process claims for asylum or other humanitarian protection in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring due process.”
Translation… we can’t get these laws passed in Congress, so we are going to circumvent the laws and just open our borders to everyone.
Sadly, our failed Attorney General sees nothing wrong with this.
On the new rule, Merrick Garland stated, “This rule advances our efforts to ensure that asylum claims are processed fairly, expeditiously, and consistent with due process.
“It will help reduce the burden on our immigration courts, protect the rights of those fleeing persecution and violence, and enable immigration judges to issue removal orders when appropriate.
“We look forward to receiving additional input from stakeholders and the public on this important rule.”
Here is my input Mr. Garland… you are an activist, not an attorney general, and this rule is a complete and utter disgrace.
This, my friends, is how Democrats continue to legalize illegal immigration.
