Joe Biden has set a record, but it is not one to be proud of.
After more than six months in office, Joe Biden still does not have a single ambassadorship instated.
This would make it the most disastrous presidency on that front in recent history regarding Senate-approved appointments.
Falling Behind
Democrats challenged Donald Trump on just about every front, including appointments.
Even so, Trump was still ahead of Joe Biden at this point.
By August of Trump’s first term, Donald Trump had 126 of 308 nominees appointed.
By comparison, Obama had 243 of his 430, and Bush had 291 of his 448 appointments.
Joe Biden is currently sitting at 124 of the 405 appointments needed.
If you break it down by percentage, Joe Biden is even further behind.
Of the 60 ambassador-nominees, not a single one has passed muster thus far.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is blaming Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Schumer’s office stated, “Senator Cruz has a hold on all state department [nominees].”
Senator Cruz’s spokesperson responded, stating, “Sen. Cruz will use all leverage and prerogatives he has as a U.S. Senator to get the Biden administration to follow the law and implement Congressional mandates to sanction and stop completion of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
“That includes holding State Department nominations that the Biden administration and Senate Democrats have advanced to the confirmation stage.”
As I have stated before, I am not a fan of obstructionist government, but after what the Democrats did to the Trump administration, it was time for Democrats to get a taste of their own medicine.
