Tuesday afternoon, the nation will have the pleasure of a Joe Biden address.
Biden is expected to announce sweeping measures amid concern over the Omicron variant.
Among those measures will be free COVID testing and more vaccine availability.
Here We Go…
As expected, Joe Biden will open the register to fight back against the Omicron surge.
He really has no choice at this point, having failed at ridding the nation of COVID as he promised during the election season.
Whatever Biden’s plan was has failed, as he now has more deaths on his watch than Trump, only Biden had the benefit of a vaccine.
Omicron is now the dominant variant, accounting for more than 70 percent of all positive cases this week.
Biden’s plan will give access to free testing, including testing kits to be automatically mailed out, increased support for hospitals, and more access for vaccine and booster shots.
Biden is also expected to tap Defense Secretary Austin to authorize military personnel to help hospitals in need of staff.
And, yes, before you ask, that would be the same hospitals that have been terminating staff members because they did not want to take the vaccine.
The administration is set to purchase 500 million rapid tests, which will be distributed free of charge to American households.
A website is expected to be set up by January where people can request the test kits and have them delivered free of charge.
Pop-up clinics will be set up by FEMA to deploy vaccinators around the country to give easier access to those still wanting the vaccine or a booster shot.
Biden stated, “We know that vaccines are working. If you are boosted with Pfizer or Moderna, you have a high degree of protection against severe illness with omicron.
If you’re an adult choosing to be unvaccinated, you will face an extremely difficult winter for your family and community.”
Biden is expected to avoid discussing lockdowns and shutdowns, at least for now.
So far in the United States, there has been only one death attributed to the new variant.
While that total will surely rise, we are hardly seeing mortality rates akin to the height of the pandemic, with the active mortality rate remaining under one percent.
Do you think Biden will eventually go into lockdown mode?
