Biden White House Nailed by WaPo on Defunding Police Narrative

It would now appear that the Washington Post is beginning to rethink its idea about keeping a database of Joe Biden’s lies.

Only weeks into Joe’s term, the publication stated it would no longer be tracking lies the way it did with Trump.

Now, twice in two weeks, the publication has slammed the Biden administration for pushing misinformation, this time on the defunding police narrative.

Just Wrong

Democrats have been trying to pin the defunding of police on Republicans for about two weeks now.

Their policy was an absolute disaster, yet because Republicans will not support a massive spending bill by the Biden administration that includes money for local law enforcement, Democrats are trying to pin the blame on the GOP.

I have written many times, this would actually be a refunding of law enforcement, replacing money that was already taken away by Democrat mayors.

Furthermore, this was additional funding, not the actual budget money that had been reallocated in many cities.

That is a HUGE difference, and the Washington Post fact-checkers seem to agree.

The Post noted, “Although Republicans all opposed Biden’s coronavirus relief package, no one voted to cut, or defund, anything. Rather, Democrats proposed $350 billion in emergency funds for state and local governments, and Republicans voted against those extra funds. That’s not a reduction.”

I have also noted that there was no guarantee the money would be given to law enforcement, as there were no stipulations in Biden’s legislation that would prevent Democrat mayors from reallocating the additional money, another point made by the Post.

The publication stated, “[G]oing strictly by the bill text, lawmakers had no guarantee that police would get a slice of the pie.

“What’s more, voting against a one-time infusion of cash is not the same as voting to cut funding, so there is little basis to claim that Republicans are trying to ‘defund the police.'”

It concluded, “Overall, we award Three Pinnochios,” to the Biden administration for the misinformation on this front.

Now I guess we just need to wait and see if Facebook and Twitter slap the White House and other Democrat posts on this with a fake news label.
