An American diplomat was expelled from its Russian embassy on Thursday.
The move comes amid rising tensions and reports of shelling by a Russian-backed separatist group in Ukraine.
Blinken has now reportedly requested to speak to the United Nations in an effort to prevent an all-out war.
On the Brink…
While Russia has claimed that it has been withdrawing troops, intelligence sources say otherwise.
NATO allies are now accusing Russia of misleading the world with “disinformation” on this front.
There have been reports that Russia has actually increased its troop presence by some 7,000 troops while claiming to have drawn down.
Joe Biden stated very early Thursday that the threat of a Russian invasion is still “very high” and could happen in the next several days.
Some White House officials have once again started to add the word “imminent” back into their comments when talking about the invasion.
Biden also warned of a possible false flag operation.
If that is linked to the shelling of a Ukrainian village remains to be seen.
He stated, “Every indication we have is they’re prepared to go into Ukraine, to attack Ukraine.”
Biden is still pressing for a diplomatic solution, as that is the only way he can save face out of this horrible situation.
If Russia goes into Ukraine, it has global impact, not to mention the second country getting turned over to enemy forces on his watch.
Blinken, while speaking to the U.N. Security Council meeting, stated, “As lead diplomats for our nations, we have a responsibility to make every effort for diplomacy to succeed, to leave no diplomatic stone unturned.”
He added, “I am here today not to start a war, but to prevent one.”
With tensions where they are right now, we would expect this to play out within the next 72 hours one way or the other.
Russia will either make its move or openly stand down and go the diplomatic route.
We will keep our eye on the situation and update as necessary.
