The Texas National Guard member who lost his life saving an illegal immigrant has been identified.
Spc. Bishop E. Evans, 22, died after jumping in the water to save a drowning migrant.
While the migrant survived, authorities lost sight of Evans and he washed away.
On Monday, Evans’ body was found.
Sad Day
Everyone was holding out hope that Evans would somehow have survived the ordeal.
He had seen several migrants struggling to cross the Rio Grande and unselfishly jumped in to help them.
Evans had removed his body armor, but he still went under and was never seen alive again.
Maj. Gen. Tom Suelzer, adjutant general for Texas, stated, “We are devastated by the loss of a member of our Guard family.
“We recognize the selflessness of this heroic soldier who put his life above others in service to our state and national security.
“The Texas Military Department sends our deepest condolences to the family.”
Sadly, the death of Evans has barely penetrated the mainstream media save Fox News.
