The situation at the border continues to go downhill.
As this administration continues to pass rules that make it easier for illegals to stay, Border Patrol is finding itself getting overwhelmed by migrants.
To that point, there were more almost 2,000 encounters in a single 24-hour period, hundreds of which made it through.
Gotaways
When you get overwhelmed like this, it is impossible to maintain control.
This is especially true when you know they are understaffed on the border.
Friday was a day the Border Patrol at the Rio Grande Valley sector does not want to experience again anytime soon.
In the space of 24 hours, there were 1,909 encounters.
Of those encounters, agents estimated that there were 262 “gotaways.”
The pace the Border Patrol is currently seeing is far above even last year.
October is the first month of the 2022 fiscal year, and agents have already had 65,000 encounters.
That is a 161 percent increase over last year’s numbers at the same point.
If that surge holds, it means there will be almost three million encounters this year.
Honestly, with the latest orders DHS has issued, it would not be surprising to see the number far higher come this time next year.
