Kamala Harris has finally caved to the pressure of the GOP.
Only hours ago, it was announced that Harris would be traveling to our southern border on Friday.
The visit comes after more than three months of refusing to head directly to our border and mounting pressure among her own party as well as Republicans to see the situation firsthand.
91 Days and Counting
It has been 91 days since Harris was appointed as the border czar by Joe Biden.
It is 90 days since Harris stated she was charged with fixing the root causes, not the actual border issue.
That, of course, is semantics, as they are both tied together.
Most of us believe talking to migrants firsthand will go much further in terms of realizing the real issues than talking to heads of state, but what do we know… right?
The White House has continued to defend Harris, so the fact she is actually headed south is a major concession on the part of the Biden White House on this front.
What will be interesting to watch is how Harris handles the visit.
Will she take the approach that, “I am here now, so lay off!”
She could also go the route of blasting the Trump administration for the current issues, as Biden has been doing most of his term.
Or, she could do the right thing and talk to illegal immigrants to get the real reason they are coming, which we do not really expect to happen.
If she does that, she will learn they are coming because of the lax policies of this administration.
No matter how you slice it, this is a big win for Republicans and a major concession by Democrats and this administration.
