Bomb?
The D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency announced the closures around 8:00 a.m. EST.
The package was located just outside the doors of the building.
Police stated, “Staff and other personnel are directed to AVOID THIS AREA until further notice.”

Capitol Police have been on high alert since days before the January 6 anniversary.
The Capitol Police are still dealing with massive staffing shortages, however.
Like many police forces, the Capitol Police have seen a mass exodus and are now about 400 officers shy of being fully staffed.
This is a developing situation that we will continue to monitor.
If there are any major developments, we will update this article to reflect the events.
