I saw a report today that made me slam on the brakes and just about throw up my lunch.
If I asked you who was second behind Trump in presidential polling, you would have more than likely guessed anyone but Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY).
Well, you would have been wrong, as I was.
Liz is Rising
How can Republicans possibly lose the 2024 presidential election after such a disastrous start to Joe Biden’s time in office?
Well, how about these two words… Liz Cheney.
In the latest Rasmussen Reports mock presidential poll among all voters, Trump still has a significant lead.
Cheney is also gaining ground in the primary race, but it is the general election poll that has me really concerned.
As Trump, DeSantis, Cruz and Pompeo prepare for CPAC, upcoming @Rasmussen_Poll finds nearly half of GOP voters pick Trump for 2024, with DeSantis #2. But Liz Cheney!!! is ahead of Cruz, Pompeo, Pence, Haley with 7%. Among all voters she is 16%, behind Trump 30% with DeSantis 14%

If you think it is out of the question for someone like Cheney to run to block Trump in 2024, think again.
She could run as an independent for the sole purpose of stealing votes away from Trump if he wins the nomination.
Here is the really scary thing, though.
If Joe Biden continues to flounder, Cheney could present a legitimate threat as a third-party candidate.
Democrats are starting to flock to Cheney, and we know they will not vote for Trump, so if she gets the anti-Trump Republicans and Democrats, she could be a real threat.
I realize this is a long shot, but this is something we are really going to have to start to watch as more polls are put out getting closer to the election.
I think we will also get a much better idea of where Cheney stands overall after the 2022 election.
If she fends off Trump’s candidate in the primary and keeps her seat, we better all start to pay a bit more attention to her.
God help us all if another Cheney gets into a presidential administration. The last time that happened, we got suckered into a 20-year war in the Middle East.
