As we suspected, candidates who Trump opposes are benefitting just as much as being hurt by the war with Trump.
Rep. Cheney (R-WY) is proof positive of that.
While Cheney is being primaried and has lost the support of much of the Republican Party, the money continues to pour into her account.
Pouring In
Cheney is one of the more high-profile House members that voted to impeach Trump.
The family name is a legacy in the Republican Party, although I have no idea why.
Her father should be in jail, but that is a conversation for another time.
Cheney is now being primaried by a Trump-backed candidate (who was actually polling ahead of Cheney during the last run of reports).
However, as I suspected, the anti-Trumpers on both sides of the aisle are pouring money into Cheney’s account to try to defeat Trump.
During the first quarter of this year, she has taken in nearly $3 million.
All told, Cheney has almost $7 million in her war chest to take on Harriet Hageman in the primary.
In comparison, Hageman reportedly only has about $1 million, so she is going to need a significant cash influx if she is going to take out Cheney down the stretch.
The establishment is firmly behind Cheney and MAGA is firmly behind Hageman in what is going to be one of the key primary races of 2022 to measure just how much Trump’s backing means to voters.
If Cheney comes out of this primary, it will be a crushing blow to Trump.
