Remember when Michael Avenatti was the toast of the town.
Well, those days are long gone, and the former attorney and CNN golden boy was dealt yet another critical blow.
The jury is in on the Stormy Daniels’ suit that Avenatti swindled her out of $300,000… and the verdict is guilty.
Fall from Grace
Avenatti had represented Daniels in her suit against Trump.
Early on, it was clear that he was using the case to boost his profile.
All the while, he was helping himself to Stormy’s money.
This makes Avenatti a two-time loser.
He now faces as much as 22 years in prison for wire fraud and aggravated identify theft.
Even after losing the case, he maintains that he did nothing wrong.
He stated, “I’m very disappointed in the jury’s verdict.
“I am looking forward to a full adjudication of all of the issues on appeal.”
Avenatti represented himself, proving that the adage that man who represents himself in court has a fool for a client.
Daniels’ lawyers provided evidence that Avenatti had changed letterhead and forged her signature to ensure that royalty payments from her literary agent went through him rather than her accounts.
Daniels also had text messages complaining to Avenatti about the publisher now paying her, but the money had been paid, just diverted to his accounts.
Prosecutor Robert Sobelman stated, “The defendant was a lawyer who stole from his own client. She thought he was her advocate, but he betrayed her and he told lies to try to cover it all up.”
Karma is a wonderful thing… and Avenatti just got a big dose of it.
