In yet another senseless act of violence, a Texas police officer has lost his life.
Officers were responding to a disturbance call outside a local grocery store.
Officer Richard Houston was among those responding when gunfire rang out, with Houston losing his life in the exchange.
Officer Down
The call went out around 1:40 p.m. on Friday.
Shots unexpectedly rang out, with both Officer Houston and the suspect being hit in the exchange.
Officer Houston was immediately transported to Baylor Hospital.
He was pronounced dead at 2:11 p.m.
The alleged shooter, at last report, was in critical condition.
One witness stated, “It’s very close to home. I live on the other side of this Albertson’s. It’s scary.
“Whether it’s a victim or it’s a police officer, nobody deserves to be hurt like that.”
Chief Gill added, “This was a senseless act of violence that ripped a loving father and husband from his family.
“He was a good man, a good friend, a good officer.”
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia added, “We know that there’s always a possibility where one of us will have to lay down our lives.
“This officer’s a hero. He did exactly that.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott also expressed his condolences, stating, “Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of the Mesquite Police Department officer who passed away this evening.
“This tragedy is a solemn reminder of the risks our law enforcement officers take every day by putting their lives on the line to serve and protect our communities.”
Make no mistake about it, these calls that turn violent out of nowhere are a direct result of the rhetoric thrown around by Democrats over the last five years making police sound as though their only agenda is to kill minorities.
Every life lost is blood on their hands.
