Cruz Says Boycotting Olympics Would Be a Mistake

There has been a lot of talk about possibly boycotting the Olympics in Beijing.

Those of us that were alive in the 80s remember the debacle when Jimmy Carter pulled our athletes out of the Moscow Olympics.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) agrees, saying that our athletes need to go over there and kick some butt.

Don’t Boycott

Biden has not really hinted that he is ready for a complete boycott of the games.

He has, however, entertained a diplomatic boycott, which is about as useless as an umbrella in a typhoon.

Regardless, Cruz is already letting it be known that if tensions between the United States and China continue, an all-out boycott should not be on the table.

Cruz stated, “I think it’s a mistake to have a full boycott of the Olympics.

“Jimmy Carter tried that in the 1970s.

“All it did was punish a generation of athletes.

“We’ve got young men and young women, Americans who spent their whole lives practicing for this moment.

“I don’t want to punish those young athletes.”

When Cruz was asked about American corporations that use Chinese labor, he stated, “When China engages in horrific slave labor, companies like Nike turned a blind eye.

“When you look at the NBA – I’m a diehard hoops fan – the NBA’s reaction to China is terrible.

“They’re terrified of upsetting the Chinese communist dictators.

“They value the money so much that in fact, you know, you and I both remember when Daryl Morey, who was the general manager of the [Houston] Rockets, sent one little innocuous tweet about Hong Kong, and the NBA bent over backward groveling to the Chinese communists.”

What do you guys think? Should we even consider boycotting the Olympics?

  1. Olympics have nothing to do with politics. Biden should show his face at the Olympics to show support for our athletes. It would be disrespectful to not honor these competitions. He would be considered a coward.

  2. I agree with Senator Cruz — let’s not punish our children for China’s activities. I don’t like what they do or that we seem to be owned by them, but it’s unfair to our young people who have been working their tails off to compete in Bejing. If we pull out, what happens to them and all the effort they have put forth to be the best of the best? We should learn from past mistakes. Let us not repeat Mr. Carter’s mistake.

    1. If we had learned anything at all from the past, we would have nuked their commie a$$es when they infected our country !!!!

    2. Seem to be owned by them? they own half the farmland, when all the farms were going down and people lost thier land. Our gracious goverment stepped up and put that land as colaterial for what we owed china. They own 3000 acres in texas, put up by johnson. Thats what funded welfare. I could go on n on

  3. You cannot call the Chinese “commies”, It’s not politically correct, I’m not really sure exactly what you can call the little slant eyed effers, but I do know that if you call them commies that the liberal retards heads will explode and they will protest for days and burn down a bunch of businesses !! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF, TED !!!! LMAO !!!! FJB !!!

  4. The Olympics are already screwed up because of the transgenders!!!! No woman has a chance of winning against a MAN! Also, I no longer watch the Olympics because of the stupid young people who are against America. If you don’t like our country, then don’t try to win gold medals for that same country who is giving you the opportunity!!!!

  5. The Olympics used to be fun to watch but I gave up on that a few years ago but I think American athletes would do very well
