Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) just dropped a literal bombshell on her party.
Slotkin admitted what most conservatives have believed for quite some time.
There is a significant movement within the Democrat party with a “desire to attack” anything related to Israel.
War Against Ally
During the most recent spending bill debate, Squad members were joined by several other Democrats to remove the $1 billion in funding the Pentagon had requested for Israel’s Iron Dome.
The Iron Dome is a purely defensive system that has protected Israel far more times than we can count from attacks from Hamas.
The uber-left in the Democrat Party, however, has often claimed that the Iron Dome gives Israel an unfair advantage over… wait for it… Hamas, which is a terrorist organization.
These Democrats believe that since Israel has the Iron Dome to protect itself, it should just allow Hamas to fire at will and never return fire.
They argue that Israel can defend against the attacks, whereas the Gaza Strip cannot.
The answer… defund the Iron Dome to make Israel more susceptible to these attacks.
On the constant attacks against Israel from within her party, Slotkin stated, “Iron Dome is a purely *defensive* system — it protects civilians when hundreds of rockets are shot at population centers.
“Whatever your views on the Israeli-Pal conflict, using a system that just saved hundreds, if not thousands, of lives as a political chit is problematic.
“Iron Dome, like other missile defense systems, was co-developed by the US and Israel.
“The research that went into the design of this system is shared between our two countries and can be used to protect our bases abroad, in addition to Israeli civilians in their homes,” she continued, adding that the funding now in question “isn’t new … or unusual … or a precipitous increase …
“So to target Iron Dome now means the issue isn’t a genuine concern over the system, but rather the desire to attack something – anything – related to the State of Israel; it’s devoid of substance and irresponsible.”
Several other moderate Democrats came out against the removal of the funding as well, pitting party members against each other.
For instance, Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) stated, “A missile defense system (i.e. Iron Dome) defends civilians from missiles.
“Hence the name. Only in a morally inverted universe would this be considered a ‘controversy.'”
It would appear that the Democrat Party now has as many internal problems as it does problems with the GOP.
Give them enough time, and they will destroy themselves.
