DeSantis Misses Major Fundraiser Over ‘Tragedy’

New York gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin thought he had the big fish coming for his fundraiser.

Governor Ron DeSantis was headlining his event.

Sadly, DeSantis had to bow out due to an “unforeseen tragedy.”

Sudden Passing

The loss of DeSantis was a shock to Zeldin, but everyone understood when the reason was later revealed.

We found out later in the day that a member of DeSantis’ security detail was killed.

Mrs. DeSantis provided the information on Twitter on Monday.

She wrote, “Today we mourn the tragic loss of FDLE Special Agent Jose Perez, who died in the line of duty.

“With over 20 years in the U.S. armed forces & more than 30 years in law enforcement, he lived a valiant life serving our nation & state.

“The entire @fdlepio community is in our prayers.”

The event that DeSantis missed was a $25,000/plate dinner to benefit Zeldin against New York Governor Hochul.

The event went on as planned, and DeSantis will reportedly make an appearance at a later time for Zeldin.

Political commentator Dan Bongino filled in for DeSantis at the event.

A week ago, Joe Biden told Americans that prices aren’t actually high.

But the numbers don’t lie.

Inflation is up 14.4% since Biden took office.

And all the president can offer are more lies.

Inflation ⬆️ more than expected.

Overall CPI: +6.4% y/y
Fuel Oil: +27.7%
Electricity: +11.9%
Groceries: +11.3%
Chicken +10.5%
Milk: +11%
Eggs: +70.1%
Bread: +14.9%
Potatoes: +12.4%
Baby Food: +10%
Airline Fares: +25.6%
Real Average Hourly Earnings: -1.8%

Year-over-year real wages have been negative for 22 months - ever since Biden forced through his $1.9 trillion "stimulus."

That's a wages recession for American workers.
