Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was way ahead of the curve in terms of using monoclonal antibody therapy to fight the Delta variant.
Now, however, his state and other red states could be in danger of losing a portion of their supply.
After Biden’s HHS announced it would be revamping how these drugs are dispensed, DeSantis went ballistic.
Very, Very Problematic
Until the recent change, distribution sites were able to order the antibody treatment from the supplier directly.
Now, the federal government will oversee how many doses every state gets.
The assumption here is that red states that have been using the therapy will suddenly have their supply chains diminished.
DeSantis warned that the new plan is “very, very problematic” for patients, who “are going to suffer as a result of this.”
DeSantis press secretary Christina Pushaw stated, “We were happy to see that Biden’s COVID plan announced last week included a 50% increase in monoclonal antibody deliveries to states this month.
“So, it’s surprising and deeply disappointing that the Biden Admin would break this promise just a week later and cut MAB allocation to Florida, so they aren’t even providing half of the doses of life-saving treatment that COVID patients in Florida will need.”
The Alabama Medical Association, another state using the antibody treatment, was also concerned, stating, “Alabama’s hospitals are full and under tremendous stress.
“That’s why physicians are very concerned about federal efforts that will end up limiting our supply and access to this effective treatment.
“We’re calling on the federal government to help us provide more of this treatment – not less – so we can save lives and keep COVID patients out of the hospital.”
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) slammed Biden for the change to HHS’s policy, stating, “This reeks of politics. This is the Biden administration punishing Florida.
“They’re saying to states like Florida, ‘Oh yeah, you’re not gonna have mandates?
“You’re not gonna do what we want you to do? Well then guess what, we’re gonna cut off your antibody treatments and your access to them.'”
So, think about this for just a second…
Joe Biden left Americans behind in Afghanistan, obliterated an innocent family with a drone strike, lied about it, and now the administration is cutting an essential treatment for COVID from red states, literally putting more American lives at risk… and the media is barely covering any of those stories.
That is the state of this country, this administration, and the mainstream media today.
