If you want funding and tax breaks from the state of Florida, you better stay out of politics.
That has been the message that Governor Ron DeSantis is sending very clearly to everyone right now.
After dropping the hammer on Disney, DeSantis has now done the same thing on the Tampa Bay Rays.
No Soup for You
DeSantis is claiming that the blocking of $35 million for a Tampa Bay Rays spring training facility has nothing to do with politics.
However, the news came AFTER Tampa Bay started pushing for more gun control.
On blocking the funding, DeSantis stated, “I don’t support giving taxpayer dollars to professional sports stadiums.
“Companies are free to engage with or not engage with whatever discourse they want, but clearly, it’s inappropriate to be doing tax dollars for professional sports stadiums.
“It’s also inappropriate to subsidize political activism of a private corporation.”
This announcement came after the Rays posted a donation of $50,000 for Everytown for Gun Safety’s Support Fund.
The team tweeted, “This cannot become normal.
“We cannot become numb.
“We cannot look the other way.
“We all know, if nothing changes, nothing changes.”
I am still baffled by how people think taking away guns from law-abiding citizens will fix this issue.
They keep pointing to other countries and what they have done, but those other countries do not have the cartel, MS-13, and a slew of other gangs coming across their southern border at will with drugs and guns.
We can surely take measures to prevent these shootings, but liberals are stuck on gun confiscation and are refusing to look at solutions that would be far more impactful in the here and now.
And shockingly, NOBODY is talking about locking down the border as one of these preventive measures.
