ABC News’ chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl has stirred up a hornet’s nest in his new book, “Betrayal.”
In the book, Karl writes that Senator McConnell (R-KY) tried to disinvite Trump from Biden’s inauguration ceremony.
When Trump saw the report, he went utterly ballistic, completely dismissing it all as fiction.
We have all seen how these accounts turn from fact to fiction rather quickly, as journalists and authors have stretched the truth more than just a bit when it comes to Donald Trump.
Trump is not beyond spinning a yarn himself, so we are left to piece the information together and find the truth in there somewhere.
In this case, Karl is reporting that McConnell was working behind the scenes to have Trump disinvited from the inauguration to prevent any problems regarding the peaceful transition of power.
Trump says it never happened and he would not have gone regardless.
Trump stated, “This decision was mine, and mine alone.
“The old broken-down crow, Mitch McConnell, had nothing to do with it.”
He continued, “According to third-rate reporter Jonathan Karl of ABC Fake News, McConnell unsuccessfully tried getting a letter signed by others for me not to go.
“This was nothing I ever heard of, and actually, if he ever did get it signed, I probably would have held my nose and gone.
“The Election was rigged, the facts are clear, and Mitch McConnell did nothing.
“He was probably too busy working on deals with China for his wife and family!”
This is setting up for a major brawl between McConnell and Trump if the former president decides to throw his hat into the ring for the 2024 election.
