House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) pulled off an unprecedented move to block two Republicans from committee assignments last week.
She also turned around and made two appointments of her own, which is a move that is creating havoc in the party.
To that point, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) is now obliterating fellow Republican Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), calling her a “Pelosi pawn.”
Civil War in the Republican Party
There seem to be two reasons for Pelosi to have named Cheney and Rep. Kinzinger (R-IL) to her Select Committee.
The first is obvious… she wants to be able to claim the committee is bipartisan and with a McCarthy boycott all but certain, having Kinzinger and Cheney on the committee allows her to do that.
Second, she wants to start a war within the Republican Party, and on that front, she has succeeded.
Rather than focusing on exposing Democrats, and I include myself in this, we have been going after Cheney and Kinzinger.
McCarthy has done it, several other House Republicans have done it, and now Rep. Elise Stefanik, a newly appointed leader in the party, has done it, calling Cheney a “Pelosi pawn.”

However, this little civil war in the party may be necessary because both Cheney and Kinzinger need to go.
The solace in all of this is that Cheney is exposing herself as a partisan and gave up the tapes that she has already made up her mind regarding the outcome of the January 6 riot.
While doing a CNN interview, Cheney stated, “If I were saying the things that you just played, I’d be deeply ashamed of myself. What happened is absolutely clear.
“We had, as we heard this morning, just intolerable cruelty. A mob that was assembled by President Trump, was provoked by him.
“He lit the flame for what happened. We’ve seen that not just in the speech on the ellipse but throughout.
“What this committee needs to understand is exactly what the details were of the planning and the financing. But for anybody to be suggesting that somehow he wasn’t responsible, I think it’s shameful.”
Cheney is feeding right into the narrative that Pelosi wants out there, largely because Pelosi is trying to protect herself. She is also regurgitating Democrat talking points.
Stefanik, however, is not having it.
Tuesday night, she told Sean Hannity, “[Republicans] are not focused on protecting the speaker of the House, who is a lame-duck speaker.
“We want truth, accountability and we want to make sure that the U.S. Capitol is secure as the people’s house and that the violence on January 6 never happens again.
“Nancy Pelosi bears responsibility because we know that as early as December, there was information and intelligence that there were potential security threats and the Capitol was not going to be secure on January 6th.”
You better believe that will NOT be in Pelosi’s House Select Committee report, nor will all the inflammatory remarks made by her and other members of her party leading up to that day.
A powder keg like that does not get lit overnight and Democrats definitely played their role in lighting that fuse.
