Rand Paul Introduces Fauci Amendment

This pandemic has exposed Dr. Anthony Fauci as one of the biggest frauds in science.

For decades, sitting presidents have regarded Fauci’s opinion as fact.

That all changed when President Donald Trump and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) challenged Fauci’s opinion during this pandemic.

Since the current administration will not fire him, Senator Paul is going to try to take matters into his own hands.

Wrong More Than Right

I can still remember the early days of this pandemic when I was hesitant to write negatively about Fauci.

It was a mistake I have owned many times over.

Like many others in this country, because medicine and science were not in my wheelhouse, I tended to accept what he said as truth, or at least a very informed opinion.

What changed that? One word… masks.

I was no expert on masks, but I had a general idea of the effectiveness of masks and the different types of masks.

When I saw Fauci’s first interview on this matter, and he literally laughed off the idea of wearing masks due to their lack of effectiveness, he was right.

The most effective masks are N-95 masks when custom-fit, not cloth masks or the blue medical-grade masks that everyone wears and pulls down around their chin when they speak, but that is what most people were wearing.

This was about the same time Senator Paul put Fauci in the hot seat.

With Paul also being a medical doctor, I paid attention to what he had to say. More importantly, I paid attention to the answers given by Fauci and how they changed on an almost daily basis.

Now, I understand science evolves on something such as this, but Fauci was flipping around on issues that were well-known and proven, seemingly to buy into the liberal narratives being pushed… meaning, his answers had nothing at all to with science.

It was clear that Fauci had too much power, and Senator Paul hopes to take that away from him with this amendment, dividing Fauci’s influence over three separate entities to ensure this never happens again.

Paul stated, “To ensure that ineffective, unscientific lockdowns and mandates are never foisted on the American people ever again, I will introduce an amendment to eliminate Dr. Anthony Fauci’s position as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and divide his power into three separate new institutes.

“Each of these three institutes will be led by a director who is appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate for a five-year term. This will create accountability and oversight into a taxpayer-funded position that has largely abused its power and has been responsible for many failures and misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“No one person should have the sole authority to dictate science, especially when that one person wasn’t ever following the science. I’ve said that from the beginning, and I’ve been proven right over, and over, and over again. On masks, lockdowns, schools, natural immunity, all of it.”

All Democrats did was repeat the exact phrase when Trump was in office… follow the science. However, Fauci did that less and less as this pandemic wore on.

In all honestly, it is tough to remember when this administration did follow the science since taking over the White House.

Decisions are being made based on political temperature right now, and have been for most of this pandemic.

When Trump was in office, Fauci openly admitted that he was making recommendations based on what he thought people would accept.

I cannot help but go back to the biggest recommendation made by Fauci, the 15-days to slow the spread, that led to months of lockdowns and destroyed our economy.

We have the benefit of hindsight on our pushback, but surely there was information available to scientists that could have led them to understand how overall ineffective such a lockdown would be.

That lockdown was a political weapon to get Trump out of office and I cannot be convinced otherwise now.

Paul is right… Fauci and his position must be eliminated, with that power distributed so that one person can never have that much power and influence on decisions such as this again.
