I have often said that Democrats will do just about anything to stop Donald Trump from becoming president again.
Merrick Garland has repeatedly proven that he is Joe Biden’s lapdog on this front, as has Christopher Wray.
On Monday, the FBI executed an unprecedented search warrant at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.
Not Even There
The timing of this makes the raid even more suspect.
Donald Trump was in New York at the time of the raid.
When the news broke, he went ballistic on social media.
Trump wrote, “My beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents.”
According to Trump, they even broke into his safe.
In addition to Trump being out of town, the timing was odd in that it coincided with a recent report of pictures of alleged documents tossed into White House toilets being published, allegedly for the purpose of destroying them before Trump left office.
Eric Trump told Sean Hannity, “The purpose of the raid, from what they said, was because the National Archives wanted to, you know, corroborate whether or not Donald Trump had any documents in his possession.”
Trump attorney Christina Bobb stated, “President Trump and his legal team have been cooperative with FBI and DOJ officials every step of the way.
“The FBI did conduct an unannounced raid and seized paper.”
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) responded, “Attorney General (Merrick) Garland: preserve your documents and clear your calendar.
“I’ve seen enough.
“The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.
“When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned.”
Trump had already turned over cases of documents that had been removed from the White House Trump thought he was entitled to take.
From earlier reports, these were primarily notes from other dignitaries that Trump had considered personal items but were actually federal property.
If the DOJ comes up empty on this or presents some trivial charge, it will be a rallying cry for Trump and the GOP come 2024.
If it does not prevent Trump from running, this move could have just put him back in the White House come January 2025.
